Gas jumped up again to $3.69, ugh.
I just got gas the other day at Kroger
with my Kroger Plus Card for $2.96.

7-30-12

12:30pm
Got a load of towels hung on the clothesline
and another two boxes of stuff weeded out
from the basement.
Just got supper in the crock.
I removed the skin from four chicken leg quarters ($3.39),
wrapped apple smoked bacon around
the chicken pieces ($1.49) and then brushed
an orange glaze (free) over top them all.
You could also use an orange marmalade.
I set the crock on low til supper time.
Serve with chicken rice-a-roni (free)
and carrots ($1.00).  Loving my new $1.00
crock pot from the yard sale.  It is actually
bigger than the one I currently have.
It could easily fit 10 chicken leg quarters
into my new crock if I wanted.
Tony didn't understand why I wanted a third crock pot.
I actually had three at one time but gave
one to mom.  First starters they are great for
keeping Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners warm,
can send one to a pot luck at work and still
have more at home to use for supper,
I can make supper in one, dessert in another
and bread in another if I wanted all at the same time.
And when I feel energetic I can make three
meals at once and then store them in the freezer for another time.
Those come in real handy especially if I am
not feeling well with a flare up and don't
feel like cooking.  The family can still get a warm, home
cooked meal and not have to turn to
hot dogs or ramen noodles, lol.
I've almost depleted any meals from my freezer
so it's time to make some more and stock up.
5:25pm

Got some carrots sliced up and boiling in
water in a pot.  In a smaller skillet
I added a couple tablespoons out of the crock
that had a mixture of bacon grease and
orange glaze then sprinkled a little corn starch to make
a thick gravy.  Then I added in about 1/4 cup
frozen apple juice, and a  squirt of vanilla spice maple syrup
and a couple dashes of cinnamon.
Once the carrots are tender
and drained I'll stir this into them.

Instead of rice (since we had rice yesterday)
I'm boiling up some elbow macaroni
and will add some velveeta, cheese, butter and
salt to it once drained and tender.

Chicken turned out really good :0P

7:55pm

Tony must of had a rough day because
he went to bed soon after eating.
I'm having a rough day as well.
I can't for the life of me find that
Kroger receipt from Saturday evening.
I have searched high low and everywhere
in between double, triple and quadruple times.
Where in the world would it have gone???
I had it with me when I returned to the store.

7-29-12

9:40am

Well we were going to go to National Trail Raceway today.
Got as far as Morse and Hamilton Rds and
the transmission in the truck decided it
didn't want to work today.  Stopped and put
transmission fluid in it.  Still not working.
Drove all the way back home in second gear,
wouldn't shift into any higher gears.

Tony's friend  (the one that I don't particularly like
that lives in Groveport) works at a transmission shop
so we called him.  There's a guy there that will work
on transmission on the side rebuilding them.
I'm thinking that if we took it to a transmission
place to have it rebuilt it would cost
$1,200 to $1,300 to rebuild a 4x4.
We got a price quite from this guy
for $300 for parts and $250 for labor
for a total of $550.
Well it seems like I may have to push back
a $548 doctor bill for another time to pay off.
We need the truck fixed!

Plus we know another friend that owns
a tow truck business.  (the brother of Tony's friend from
Groverport that works at the transmission shop)
Not sure if he would cut us a deal with towing our truck out
to Reynoldsburg or not.  And not sure that if we
spent money to have it towed if our insurance
company would reimburse us that money.

Not having a good day
or a good yesterday.

Here's a couple photos I took yesterday
evening but was too tired to post.
The first one was of a locust shedding
on the rear tire of the Suburban.
Gross.  I had to fetch a stick to get
him off before leaving.

Then last night after leaving the pool and
before going to Kroger we stopped
at a carry out to get something to drink.
I sat in the truck and could see a LARGE
black spot on the wall of the building.
I assumed it was a moth being by a light.
But the kids had to call me out of the
truck and ask me what bug this was,
another gross out moment.
It is called a Stag Beetle.  I had
never seen one like this before
with the large pincers and very large body!
I am used to Japanese Beetles.
Close to the size of the palm of my hand!
No fingers or even a hand for comparison
as I did not want any body parts close
to this thing for fear he would pinch me!!

This morning we had our first Morning Glory bloom.
Grandpa Ott's Morning Glory.

Last night while at hubby's work
me and Jonathan found these under the bed drawers
in the bulk furniture pick up area.
I've been wanting some of these!
I've priced twin captain beds to possibly
get for the boys later on.  They cost way
too much so was thinking about a plan B
with finding some wooden drawers.
Bingo!  I will have to Jimmy rig something
to make them work.

Well I guess it's time to go do some laundry
and some housework.
Would have preferred being at the race track today :0)
People wonder how I have stayed calm
throughout the truck breaking down.
Just thankful that once again we made it
home with the truck and didn't
get clear out to Hebron, Ohio.
If you've ever been stranded and broken down
on the road before you'd know what I'm talking about.

12:15pm

Got 12 bell pepper halves in a pot
of water getting ready to boil along
with a skillet of deer burger frying up.
I added in water, white rice, 1 box of
beef rice-a-roni, 1 can italian diced and stewed tomatoes
and a can of tomato soup for the filling.
Will top each pepper with mixture and
a little velveeta type cheese then bake.

This sucks.  I wanted to make some
"ice cream" pudding bars today and have
no cream cheese.  Wonder why????
I was going to use chocolate graham crackers
and use cheesecake flavored pudding with
cream cheese mixed in for the filling
then freeze them like ice cream sandwiches.

-------------------------------------------------------

1:20pm

Got supper done ahead of time.
I used a 12 cup baking tin to put
each half of the bell peppers on to help
keep them in place when filling.

-----------------------------------------------------

8:40pm

What do ya think?  Is it me?  LOL

Watching the Days of Thunder DVD
I got at a yard sale.
I think the DVD's I got -
Days of Thunder and Top Gun
are the best when you have a surround!

7-28-12

2:10pm

Got up and went yard saling this morning.

Wooden ladder $2.50

Large oval crock pot.
I love the oval one I have already
that hubby found at his work,
better than the round ones and fits
meats and other items much better!
only $1.00!

Fairy statue .25 cents.

Columbus map book was free

3 books .25 cents each

Wolf fleece blanket .25 cents.
Got this for Damien for Christmas.

All this Halloween stuff below for $1.00!
I basically wanted the Witch costume and two wigs
but everything else came with it for a buck.

Found another wig at a yard sale for .50 cents.

These 6 movies were $5.00
or .83 cents each.
I just watched Scary Movie 3 last night on tv, lol.

These movies were
Bloody Mary $1.00
Mean Girls .25 cents
the other two movies Tony found at work.

Other items not listed-

Box of legos $2.00

Laser radar detector $5.00
Putting back for Tony for Christmas.

I also found a lot of paint at Tony's
work but only came home with 3 gallons of gray.
Was thinking about sometime redoing
Jonathan's room in scarlet and gray
and doing an OSU theme.

In the mail today I got a free bottle
of 5 Hour Energy Drink.

I also got our electric bill today.
I thought it would have been much
more than it was considering
that most of June was 90 to 100+ degrees.
It was actually cheaper than last year.
Last year $222.
This year $213.
I'll take this over other people's electric bills.
I've been hearing of people talking about
$300 to $500 electric bills.

10:55pm

Took the kids swimming this evening then
went over to Kroger before coming home on the NW
side of Columbus to get some picnic type
groceries for our outing tomorrow along with
a few other things for the upcoming week.
Went to put the refrigerated groceries
away and the only thing we had in the way
of refrigerated stuff was milk.
Totally missing the other stuff and have
rechecked the truck and everything
more than once looking for it.
This totally sucks as this Kroger is 5 miles away
and the stuff is needed tomorrow morning.
Just once why can't they put all your
freaking groceries in your cart when
they bag them????!!!!!
I mean how do you miss putting a bag in the
cart with a large cottage cheese tub,
2 packages cream cheese,
2 large packages cheese slices
and a package of sliced honey ham.
So pissed and so tired wondering
if we should haul our butts back over
there and ask them what's up.
I mean come on now this store had very
few people in it to even screw up something like this.
I did notice that before the bagger had everything
bagged and put
in our cart the cashier was ringing up the next
person behind us and sending their groceries
down the line.  This is where they screwed up!!!!

11:45pm

Back home after making a 10 mile
round trip back to Kroger in Upper Arlington
to complain about not getting my groceries.
I told them how far I had to drive to come back for my groceries.
They told me to come back tomorrow they
can't do anything tonight.  I said really???
The reason I'm here now is because I'm going on
a trip early tomorrow morning and won't be home
to come back tomorrow along with the fact
that the groceries I just purchased were
for my trip and to pack my cooler with.
Still got, sorry we can't do anything.
I was so irate and loud at this time
(picture a store with no customers
in it at about 11:30pm, it'll echo in there!)
after driving clear back over there at this
time of night when I should of been home in bed.
I said so, I'm supposed to rebuy all my groceries
that you failed to put into my shopping cart
that I PAID FOR!
This was not my fault at all!
And he said yes!
And the best part was that the guy I talked
to was the guy who bagged up all
my groceries to begin with.
The guy who more than likely put
my other part of my groceries in the couple's
cart behind us because there was
no extra bags of groceries at the checkout when I returned.
He even called another person to the checkout
on the intercom.  What I didn't like
was the fact that instead of standing in
front of me to discuss this with me
they both stood a distance away from
me with backs turned whispering.
Helloooo, remember me the customer?
You can keep the store open 24 hours but have
no one working in charge to take care of
matters like this?  Then have to go into a football
huddle to discuss this like it's my fault or something.
Kroger is my favorite store but
when you mess with the bull you get the horns
when you do stupid crap like this to your customers
when it's not their fault!!!!
I will be going back at another time
and I will ask for the manager
to get this issue resolved.
I'm so pissed and worked up right now
it ain't funny.  I try so hard to plan for things
ahead of time.  When you mess with my
money that we work hard for and try
to take it from us and we get nothing
in return then you better look the bleep out.
I will defend that little bit of money
because I sure as heck don't have a money
tree in the front yard to replace it with.
It's 12:10am so I need to get to bed.
Should've been there awhile ago!

7-27-12

11:30am

Went to two yard sales and a church sale this morning.

From one yard sale I got the boys
back to school shirts $4.00 for all.
2 long sleeve 3 short sleeve.
Trying so hard to remember that they
cannot wear solid blue or red shirts to school.

From church sale-
2 packs of spice or prescription bottle holders .25 cents each.
large sweet cinnamon spice scented candle .25 cents.

Mailbox freebies I got today and yesterday-

6 Poise pads
ESPN magazine
Schick Hydro Silk Razor

I think tonight for supper I'm going to make stuffed peppers.
I'll cut each pepper in half to make
a total of 12 stuffed peppers,
enough to make two meals out of and
put the leftovers in the freezer.

6 yellow bell peppers $1.89
1 box of beef Rice-A-Roni $1.00
white rice from mother-in-law- free
2 pounds deer burger- free
1 can diced tomatoes- .39 cents
1 can tomato soup from mom- free
leftover shredded cheese- $1.00

Total cost to make $4.28
or $2.14 per meal
or .35 cents per 1/2 stuffed pepper.

Lunch is bologna and cheese sandwiches.

--------------------------------------------------

I just saw this on ABC 6-

Enter to win a year of free electric from Border Energy.
(from Powell, Ohio)
A max of 50,000 watts for 12 months
or a max of $4,000 worth of electric.
Contest ends July 29th.
Must be 21 or older and live in
Duke Energy Ohio, AEP Ohio
or Dayton Power and Light territories.
Potential winner will be contacted by August 10 by phone.

-----------------------------------------------------------

I completely overlooked this item
I bought at the church sale today.
Not sure how when it was the biggest item, lol.
Rolling suitcase $2.00.
We have one and needed another one for when we go on trips.
On our last trip we had to borrow a rolling suitcase.

10:00pm

I decided to hold off on making
the stuffed peppers tonight for supper.
Instead I used a Subway gift card we got
for our anniversary last week.

Visited Tony's coworker friend at his work.
Also stopped to say hey to this nice elderly
lady that always chats with us everytime
we visit Tony's friend.  She has health issues
and doesn't have anyone to really talk
to except the maintenance guys.
We all keep an eye on her.

Mr. Baby Bunny comes out every evening
when we visit.  He thinks if he holds
really still in the grass you won't see him.
Sometimes you almost step on him!

Stopped in one of the units that hubby is
punching out.  Wanted to show everyone
one of the kitchen and bathrooms he
remodeled years ago.  I would love to have
these cabinets and counter tops in my kitchen and bath!
We have always wanted black appliances also.

No thunderstorms this evening.
Instead we had a pretty sunset.

While at Tony's work I did a lil DD'n.
Found some food and first aid supplies.

I can actually say that after a week of
taking my antibiotics that I
am actually feeling better, thank God!
You just don't know how bad
I was feeling.  This was worst flare up since January!
I still have a week to go of taking antibiotics
three times a day.  Whatever it takes to
keep the pain away.  I wouldn't wish it on anyone!

7-26-12

9:30-10:15am

Back in the basement.
Got a load of laundry in the dryer
and a load of towels in the washer.
Are hanging those out on the
line to dry or it could take forever to dry in the dryer.
Got a few other things rearranged in the basement
and another box gone through.

5:00pm

Tony says he's going to hang out at work a bit.
The front area of his work is flooded
and the traffic light at Henderson & Kenny is out.
I heard on the news that parking lots
around Henderson and Reed not far from his work
are flooded up to the bottoms of cars.
 Nothing really to report here
other than LOTS of lightning and thunder
that shakes the house.
Some a little too close for comfort.
 29,900 without power.
9,000+ in Columbus.
Surprisingly ours did not go out!

 Supper tonight was Chicken Parmigan.

Spaghetti topped with 4 cheese spaghetti sauce
with a little splenda added in to take the bitiness out of it.
Then fried up some breaded chicken patties
and fresh sliced mushrooms in Italian dressing
and put on top of spaghetti with swiss cheese
and parmesan.

6:25pm

Tony is still at work waiting for traffic to die down.
It's been a mess with the traffic lights not
working during the rush hour.

We heard and saw on the news that
here causing the building to catch fire.
It's says in the article that they weren't sure
if it was lightning and they just confirmed on the news
that it was.
Me and the boys went outside to see
if we could see smoke but could not
because of the trees.  You could indeed
hear the channel 10's helicopter though
that was reporting the live feed of it.

8:00pm

On the way to Kroger we tried to drive by
the apartment building that was on fire
but they had the road blocked off.
On the way back home they had the road back open.

7-25-12

1:30pm

Trying to do things while I have some energy
and the throbbing and pain is at tolerable levels.
Got the dishes loaded in the dishwasher and going.
Jonathan was bored so I decided me and
him would go into the basement and work
on it some more.   Also got a load of laundry done in the dryer and
one going in the washer.  I'm trying to plan different areas
of the basement for specific things as I go.
One area I really need is a place
to store seasonal clothing.  I used to store some
under the beds but that is not the best option anymore
because Jonathan now has a futon and you can't
get any totes under there for storage.  So
I was thinking about putting a few bookcases
along one wall in the laundry room to store
folded seasonal clothes on along with my laundry detergent & supplies.  Me and Jonathan managed to
get 3-4 totes full of crap to go out.

It's true when people say that they always
find things after they go out and replace something.
After missing for almost a year Tony
bought another ear piece for his cell phone this
past Sunday at the flea market.
And would you know that me and Jonathan
found it in this basement today, 3 days later
after purchasing a new one.
It figures.  The replacement was only $5.
Now he'll have a backup when he loses this one, lol.

3:15pm

Got some pizza dough going in the bread machine.
Have been wanting to make some calzones for supper.
Was thinking of a calzone crossed between
a reuben sandwich and one of those
sausage, onion and mushroom sandwiches
that you find at the fair.
Then add in some swiss cheese
to hold it altogether.

-pizza dough
-sauerkraut
-smoked sausage
-onions
-mushrooms
-swiss cheese

In the pizza dough I also added in
-garlic powder
-onion powder
-oregano
-3 packages of Splenda

--------------------------------------------------

5:00pm

Got the calzones done.
I made the kids different ones because
I knew they wouldn't eat sauerkraut,
onions or mushrooms.
I added homemade spaghetti sauce
to their smoked sausage along with swiss cheese.
With ours I added a combo of mayo and ketchup
with a smidgen of mustard to mock
a thousand island dressing you would typically
find on a reuben.
I made 12 calzones with the pizza dough recipe,
rolled each one out, topped with desired
filling, suace and cheese then crimped the edges
together with a fork.
I placed on an ungreased cookie sheet
then brushed an egg wash over top
and sprinkled with parmesan cheese.
Baked 350 for about 15 minutes.

--------------------------------------------------------------

I forgot to tell everyone I discovered
the newest thrift store Sunday, woo hoo!
We were eating at Taco Bell on Henderson Rd.
and when we went to leave we noticed
a Grand Opening sign in the shopping center
behind there which caught our attention.

9:00pm

We took a truckload of basement stuff over
to Tony's work and dumped it.
From there I took everyone over
to check out the new thrift store.
For being a thrift store there was many new
things from furniture to clothing
and even the prices of the used things were high.
We did get a few things.

box of Vanilla wafers .99 cents
60 Freesia flower bulbs $2.99
Yankee Candle lilac petals plug in air freshener $2.99
(putting this back for mom for Christmas.
She loves lilac scents)

Laptop fan $3.99

Black patent high heel shoes.
Was $4.99 but got them 50% off for $2.50.
